Getting started

How it works

01

Reach Out

Contact me by email or phone to arrange a free, no-obligation initial consultation. There's no referral needed — just get in touch.

02

Your First Session

We'll talk about what brings you here and how art therapy might help. You don't need any artistic ability — the process is what matters, not the product.

03

Begin Your Journey

Regular sessions tailored to your needs, at a pace that feels right for you. Many clients find that change begins to unfold in ways they didn't expect.

Invest in yourself

Investing in yourself is one of the most meaningful choices you can make. Taking time to nurture your emotional wellbeing, explore your creativity, and understand your inner world can have a lasting impact on every aspect of your life.

Art therapy offers a safe, supportive space to express thoughts and feelings that may be difficult to put into words, helping you build self-awareness, resilience, and confidence. By prioritising your mental and emotional health, you're not only caring for yourself in the present but also creating a stronger foundation for your future.

Choosing to invest in your wellbeing is an act of self-care that can lead to greater balance, healing, and personal growth.

About Art Therapy

Art psychotherapy uses creative materials — paint, clay, collage, drawing — as a way of exploring thoughts, feelings, and experiences that can be difficult to put into words. It's a recognised form of psychotherapy, and the focus is on the process of making, not the finished artwork.

Not at all. Art therapy is not about artistic skill or producing something beautiful. The materials are simply a tool for expression and exploration. Many clients have never considered themselves 'artistic' and find the process deeply meaningful.

Art therapy can benefit people of all ages and backgrounds. It is particularly helpful for those experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, or life transitions. It is also widely used with children and young people who may find it easier to express themselves through creative play.

Booking & Sessions

Simply get in touch by email or phone. I will arrange a free initial consultation — either in person or by phone — to discuss your needs and answer any questions you might have. There is no referral needed.

Individual sessions are typically 50 minutes. Group workshops vary in length. I will discuss what's most appropriate for you during your initial consultation.

This varies greatly from person to person. Some clients benefit from a short series of sessions; others engage in longer-term work over many months. I will work with you to review progress regularly and ensure the work continues to feel right for you.

Fees & Practicalities

Session fees are discussed during the initial consultation. I aim to make therapy as accessible as possible so please don't let cost be a barrier to getting in touch.

Where Sessions Take Place

I offer in-person art therapy sessions from my dedicated therapy space in Whitchurch.

I also cover surrounding areas including North Shropshire, Cheshire East and Stoke-on-Trent so if attending Whitchurch isn't practical, I may be able to travel to a location that suits you. If this requires hiring a suitable therapy room, an additional venue hire fee may apply. We can discuss the options and any additional costs before arranging sessions.

I also offer online art therapy sessions for adults and young people who would prefer to access therapy remotely.

Everything discussed in sessions is held in strict confidence. The only exceptions are situations where there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others — I will always discuss this with you openly.

Clinical Supervision

To provide the best possible support for my clients, I take part in regular clinical supervision. This is a normal and essential part of being a registered Art Psychotherapist and helps me to reflect on my work, develop my practice, and ensure I am providing safe, effective and ethical therapy.

At times, I may discuss aspects of my work with my clinical supervisor. Any discussions are confidential, and my supervisor is also bound by professional standards of confidentiality. Wherever possible, identifying information is removed or kept to a minimum, so your privacy is protected.

Clinical supervision is not about judging clients. It is a supportive and reflective process that helps me think carefully about how best to meet each client's individual needs and provide the highest standard of care.

If there is ever a legal requirement or safeguarding concern that means confidentiality cannot be maintained, I will always aim to discuss this with you first, wherever it is safe and appropriate to do so.
